Why are full acrylic boxes rare?
How our boxes are built is no secret, and there is no "loss of quality"(actually being air-tight and arcylic results in a much higher resonant frequency giving you a better sound quality) or anything "fragile" about our boxes. Arcylic boxes are hard to find, but they are not hard to find because they are not good for car audio. They are hard to find because they are much to costly to be pre-fabricated by manufacturers and require alot of skill to be hand built. Arcylic within itself is also a much more costly material to use( It doesn't make sense to spend $500 on a box for a $50 sub from Wal-Mart). Because we are a dealer we buy Arcylic at dealers price, and thus can pass that savings onto you. If you went to the store right now and bought enough 3/4" Arcylic to actually build a box like ours, your going to have spent just about the same amount as if you got a box built by us and shipped it to you. When you buy a box from Gately Audio, you can be assured that you are not only getting it built by professionals, but that you are getting it at a good price.
#1 Cost compared to MDF.
Yes, we also sell MDF enclosures and will NOT deny that Arcylic is cheaper than MDF in any way or form. But you get what you pay for, and can be assured that Arcylic boxes are of much higher quality than any MDF and offer completly different features.
#2 Scratches
As with any plastic, you must worry about not scratching your box. Arcylic is an extremely durable and resillant material, and is NOT easiliy scratched. But if your box does happen to become scratched, we give good directions on how to fix this common problem(it is easily fixed) yourself, or you can ship your box back to us to be cleaned, polished, sanded, buffered, and made scratch free for absolutley FREE for the lifetime of your box.
#3 Slides in trunk
This is very easily remedied. What we typically do to prevent the box from sliding is we put little bits of velcro on the bottom of the box, or you can buy a little "no slip" pad that matches your trunk floor color in a local hardware shop. They are used to place under tool boxes and various items.
#1 Better Sound Quality
Arcylic allows for a much higher resonant frequency which gets higher notes from your sub. It allows for a better range of sound and gives a much louder "In your face" quality you do not find in MDF(wooden) or Fiberglass boxes.
#2 Air Tight/ Water proof
Part of the reason Arcylic offers better sound quality is because it is air-tight and does not "absorb" or "loose" any of the loudness or higher frequency's. This doubles and makes our box PERFECT for boat and marine audio in addition to car audio.
#3 Customizable
You will not be able to find a more customizable box on the web than the Arcylic ones we offer here at Gately. Mirrored panels, LEDS, Colored Bonds/Accents, Custom Grills, Internal Grills, and custom internal designs are just some of the ones that top my mind.
#4 Aesthetics
The first reaction we get with our boxes tends to be: "Oh my God". This is called the "Oh my God" factor. When you are showing off your system, the "Oh my God" factor usually kicks into effect and stuns/dazzles the opposition so that you can fully BRAG about how your box looks and sounds better than theres. No matter how much money they spend on there system, you still have something they don't, and that is the "Oh my God" factor.
